Katy Perry Net Worth

Ever since entering the music scene in 2001, Katy Perry has been taking the entertainment world by storm. Although she first got her start in gospel music, she’s pivoted since and now dominates pop and rock genres. Since making her professional debut, Perry received countless awards (including four Guinness World Records) and was featured in Forbes Magazine as one of the highest-earning female musicians of all time. As of 2016, her net worth is estimated somewhere around the $125 million mark. Not too shabby for a 31-year-old.

As mentioned earlier, Perry got her start in gospel music while still a teenager. Her parents, being born again Christians, played a large role in that. Both of them were Pentecostal pastors and raised Katy with strong religious beliefs (despite what her recent music might have you think).

Perry was set on pursuing a life in the music industry since a very early age. She completed all of her GED requirements at just 15 and started to focus on music more seriously. Perry began writing and recording songs and was eventually approached by Red Hill Records, which helped her release her debut gospel album titled Katy Hudson.

Unfortunately, the album was commercially unsuccessful, despite its critical acclaim. Having sold only 200 copies, Perry decided to shift to pop music. Shortly after the release of Katy Hudson, the label she was underwent out of business, and the 17-year-old musician was on her own.

Luckily, Perry didn’t lose motivation and continued to develop her talent. In 2004 she was introduced to Tim Devine, an A&R executive with Columbia Records. Impressed by her vocal range and comfortable stage presence, Devine quickly signed the up-and-coming Perry to the label.

This record deal didn’t work out either, and Kary was eventually dropped. That said, she was quickly picked up by Capitol Records and the rest is history. In 2008 she released her first hit single – I Kissed a Girl, which started to attract some serious attention.

Katy-Perry

In 2010 Perry released her third studio album, Teenage Dream, which featured 5 singles that would go on to reach the very top of Billboard 100. Since then, Perry has been unstoppable. She’s been making music and touring since, and her career has only been picking up steam.

Today, the entertainer lives in a lavish 1992 Hollywood Hills home. The 8850 square foot house (which was built in 1922) cost the singer more than $6.5 million, but judging from photographs of the property it’s well worth it. Aside from its prime location next to some of the world’s hottest celebs, the house is also jam packed with amenities. The property houses a large swimming pool, a guest house, and four separate garages.

Aside from the Cali mansion, Perry also owns a duplex in New York City and a modest home in LA. Combined, these properties are worth close to $7 million, but the singer hardly spends any time there.

When it comes to cars, Perry’s tastes are questionable. While she does own a classic Audi A5, her daily driver is an obnoxiously pink Smart car. The Smart has been modified quite a bit, and now sits on 14” black and pink rims. The singer also opted to have her name painted on the side of the car, just to make sure that everyone knows who’s behind the wheel.

Needless to say, Perry is living the life that only a few of us can even imagine. Aside from comfortably setting herself up and taking care of her loved ones, Perry also does a fair bit for the community. The singer is publically associated with at least two dozen charities and nonprofits.

Aside from raising awareness for several important causes, Perry has also made some significant donation over the years. In fact, during her California Dreams Tour back in 2011, the singer donated a porter of ticket sales to the Children’s Health Fund and Generosity Water.

Jennifer Aniston Net Worth

When it comes to Hollywood, Jennifer Aniston is as “a-list” as it gets. After getting her start as a key character on the popular sitcom Friends, Aniston has become an international icon. Despite it being her very first major gig, Aniston received praise for her performance and her character was recognized as one of the greatest on US television. Since then, she went on to star in some of Hollywood’s greatest hits and reaped piles of success, awards, and – of course – money. Today, the actress has an estimated net worth of approximately $150 million.

Aniston was born in Sherman Oaks, California to a family of actors. Her father is best known for his role on NBC’s Days of Our Lives. Despite his television career, Jennifer was oddly discouraged from watching TV as a kid. This is quite funny considering she would go on to star in one of the most popular television series to date.

Her career didn’t start in television, though. As a teen, Aniston starred in a number of Off-Broadway productions, while at the same time working a few side jobs to earn a living wage.

When she was about 20, she moved to Los Angeles – where she began to seek out acting opportunities. She got her first break in 1990 after being cast as a regular on Molloy. If you don’t recognize the series, don’t worry – you’re not alone. Only seven episodes were aired before the show was canceled.

Young Aniston went on to star in three more failed television shows, and at this point, she was starting to question her acting career. She was thinking about quitting, and shared her uncertainties with Warren Littlefield – an NBC executive that she worked with on some of the unsuccessful shows.

Littlefield encouraged her to keep her head up and insisted that she continue acting. In 1994 he helped her cast for the role of Rachel on Friends, and the rest is history. The show obviously took off, and Aniston’s career was on an upward trajectory. Since then, she left television and now frequents the big screen.

Her hard work clearly ended up paying off, considering that the actress is now worth a cool $150 million.

Jennifer-Aniston

Aniston owns at least three real estate properties, but her primary residence is a mansion in Bel Air. The 8,500 square foot gem sits in the middle of 3.5 acres of well-maintained greenery and features 4 rooms and 6 bathrooms. The property also houses a vineyard, a wine cellar, a swimming pool, a rooftop patio, and more living space than you can imagine.

When she’s not in Bel Air she spends a bit of time in her stunning New York apartment. The $9 million Gramercy Park abode stretches over nearly 3,000 square feet and three spacious bedrooms. The master suite shows off a beautiful view of Gramercy Park through the large floor to ceiling windows.

When it comes to cars, Jennifer is a simple woman. Although she can afford to drive any car on the market, the actress chooses to cruise around in either a Range Rover or a Toyota Prius.

As you can tell, Aniston isn’t much for showing off. She doesn’t really make extravagant purchases and instead puts a fair bit of her income towards charitable causes. She supports nearly two dozen charities, including Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Lupus LA, and others.

The actress is incredibly generous, and in 2010 she donated $500,000 towards Haiti relief and later helped “Hope for Haiti Now” raise over $58 million. Additionally, Aniston helped numerous other nonprofits raise awareness through various advertising campaigns. If you recall, she used to be the face of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital back in 2008, an organization that she continues to support.

Magic Johnson Net Worth

Magic Johnson is a retired basketball superstar-gone-entrepreneur. At the time of his retirement, Johnson had played 13 seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers and won a 12 NBA All-Star awards (among many others) doing it. His talent on the court earned him worldwide recognition, and in 1996 he was officially honoured as one of the 50 greatest basketball players in NBA history. Although he’s been retired since then, Johnson has been pursuing business ventures outside of basketball. Today, the five-time NBA champ is worth more than $500 million.

Johnson grew up in Lansing, Michigan where he led a fairly average life. Although his parents were blue collar workers they always put food on the table and provided for their seven children. Johnson says that he got his work ethic from them.

While growing up, Johnson fell in love with basketball and started spending most of his time on the court. By the time he reached 8th grade, he was already strongly considering a future in basketball. He was undeniably the best player on his school’s team, once scoring a ridiculous 48 points in a single game.

Although the majority of his games didn’t break 30 points, Johnson averaged an impressive 28.8 points and 16.8 rebounds per game (in high school). By the time he was finishing up high school, universities from all over the country were competing for his attention. Johnson ended up choosing Michigan State, mainly because it was close to home.

While in university, Johnson was pursuing a degree in communication studies and wasn’t seriously entertaining the possibility of playing professionally. That said, his college basketball career was so successful, that he felt compelled to at least give it a shot. He entered the NBA draft in 1979 and was the first overall pick – going to the Lakers.

His NBA career was extremely successful, but not without its share of ups and downs. For brevity’s sake, we’ll skim over it and take a look at some of his post-basketball ventures instead.

In 1991, Johnson tested positive for HIV, which caused him to retire immediately, in order to battle the deadly disease. Five years later he returned to the NBA to coach the Lakers during the 1995-96 season.

Magic-Johnson

Since then, he’s hosted a late night talk show – The Magic Hour, started his own record label, acted as an NBA commentator for seven years, and today he’s in charge of Magic Johnson Enterprises – a conglomerate worth more than $700 million. Some of the businesses owned by MJE are more than 100 Starbucks stores, a film studio, a nationwide chain of movie theaters, and dozens of others.

Needless to say, Johnson’s career has been very fruitful, and today the 57-year-old is living the life few of us can even imagine.

Together with his wife, Johnson lives in a Mediterranean home in sunny California. Just minutes from the beach, the 17 bedroom house reeks of luxury. Although we won’t go into details, this is too good to leave out. Johnson reportedly turned one of the bedrooms into a shrine of his basketball awards.

Although the retired all-star is certainly not sparing any expenses when it comes to treating himself or a loved one, he’s also doing quite a bit for those in need. Aside from personally donating thousands upon thousands of dollars to more than a dozen charities, Johnson has started a nonprofit of his own.

Shortly after discovering that he had tested positive for HIV, Johnson started the Magic Johnson Foundation. The main goal of the organization (you guessed it) was to raise funds for HIV/AIDS education and prevention programs.

On top of that he also regularly donates funds towards student scholarships, and most recently the basketball superstar wrote a $500,000 check toward the construction of a new Family Life Center at Oakwood University Church.

Britney Spears Net Worth

Regardless of what generation you are a part of, you probably know at least a little bit about the pop sensation that is Britney Spears. Although she is not nearly as popular today as she was in her prime, Spears remains beloved by millions. She first captured the spotlight in the late 1990s with the release of some of the hottest songs of the decade. She quickly gained a mass following and became an international sensation. Her success as a singer also helped the star amass an impressive $200 million net worth.

Before Spears would go on to become one of the highest earning female musicians of all time, she was just a little girl in small town McComb, Mississippi. Like the vast majority of other uber successful entertainers, Spears started practicing her craft at a very young age.

When she was just three years old she was already taking dance lessons and performing at music recitals. She made her stage debut at just five years old, performing What Child is This? at her kindergarten graduation.

Shortly after, Britney and her mother moved to Manhattan where she would audition for minor roles. She had a fairly decent career as a child actor, but nothing that would have made her as filthy rich as she is today. Fortunately, she was picked up by Jive Records in 1997 and her career started to skyrocket.

Spears released her first studio album in 1999, which debut at the top of BIllboard 100 chart. Keep in mind she was still just 18, and selling 500,000 copies in one day was unheard of. A year later she released Oops!… I Did It Again, which also received international praise.

By the time she was 20, Spears had already cemented her name among some of the best selling musicians to have ever lived. And despite her much publicized personal issues, Britney was quickly becoming a pop icon.

Although she remains active today, her music career isn’t exactly what it once was. That said, every time she puts out a new album (or single) it does incredibly well in the charts – mostly because of her status in the industry. Aside from music, endorsement deals and merchandise earnings make up a significant portion of her sizable nest egg.

Britney-Spears

Today, the entertainer lives in her beautiful Beverly Hills home. She purchased the 7,500 square foot mansion for $6.75 million back in 2007. The house features five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and a lot of open space. The kitchen, complete with Viking appliances and marble detailing, is every cook’s dream. The property also houses an elegant swimming pool, highlighted by immaculately maintained greenery.

As impressive as the Beverly Hills house might be, it pales in comparison to her LA abode. This house is a lot bigger (8,500 square feet vs 7,500), and also quite a bit more expensive. The singer dropped close to $9 million for it, and we can see why. The villa houses five bedrooms (including a monstrous master suite), a giant living room, seven bathrooms, and a modern kitchen. Outside, you’ll find a large infinity swimming pool overlooking a beautiful landscape.

To much surprise, Spears turned out to be a massive car fanatic. She owns at least 9 luxe vehicles including a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, Audi R8, a Maserati GranTurismo, a Mercedes SLK 350, Jaguar XKS, and a few others.

Aside from spending some of her hard earned money on herself, Spears is quite the philanthropist at heart. She has an undeniable love for kids, which is evident through her support of numerous children’s charities. She regularly donates thousands of dollars to the Kids Wish Network, the Red Cross, Elevate Hope Foundation, and nearly a dozen others.

Carlos Slim Net Worth

Carlos Slim Helu, or just – Carlos Slim, is a Mexican business magnate. Slim is often dubbed the “Mexican Warren Buffett,” for their similar investment strategies and staggering wealth. Like Buffett, Slim derived much of his wealth from well timed and carefully executed investments. Slim held the title of “wealthiest man in the world” for three consecutive years between 2010 and 2013. Today, he is no longer the richest man on earth, but his net worth is still estimated around an impressive $55 billion.

Slim developed his passion for business at a very young age. His father took it upon himself to make Slim financially literate. By the time Slim was 11, he had already made his first investment. Although it was just a government savings bond, it was the first step to building his multibillion dollar empire. As he was growing up, his father continued to advise him, and by the time he was 15, Slim was a shareholder in Mexico’s largest bank.

After highschool, Slim went on to study civil engineering. While studying, he developed a passion for mathematics, which years later gave him an edge when it came to reading financial statements. After graduation Slim didn’t put his engineering degree to good use.

Instead, he started selling stocks. Just four years after graduating from university, Slim managed to grow his personal savings to an impressive $400,000. He took this money and started a brokerage firm.

Since then, Slim’s portfolio grew to include companies from virtually every sector of the Mexican economy. Interestingly enough, the majority of his wealth can be attributed to the success of Telmex and America Movil, two of the largest telecommunications companies in Latin America. Today, Slim is the Chairman and CEO of both Telmex and America Movil. Although he’s at the ripe age of 76, and his net worth accounts for more than 6% of Mexico’s GDP, Slim isn’t even thinking about retiring.

Today, Slim’s fruitful investment career allows him to live a lifestyle that most of us can’t even imagine. For starters, he owns the $44 million Duke Semans mansion on Fifth Avenue. Aside from its iconic view of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the 19,000 square foot mansion boasts 12 bedrooms, 14 bathrooms, and a doctor’s office.

Carlos-Slim

The living space is spread out over 8 floors, and due to its position next to some of the finest shopping outlets in the world, the Duke Semans mansion remains one of the last remaining private residences on Fifth Avenue.

In 2011, Slim opened the doors to the Museo Soumaya (named after his late wife). The museum features more than 60,000 works of arts, combined cost of which exceeds $800 million. The museum didn’t come as a huge surprise, considering that Slim had always been a huge fan of art. In fact, he owns 380 pieces of Auguste Rodin’s work, making him the largest private collector in the world.

When it comes to other hobbies, Slim enjoys racing and had previously expressed interest in buying his own Formula One team. That said, his own car collection leaves a lot to be desired – especially for someone worth billions of dollars. Slim owns a classic Bentley Continental Flying Spur and Navy Mercedes 4×4.

While he has more than enough money to be chauffeured around in any car on the market, Slim chooses to drive himself in the timely navy blue 4×4. What’s funny, is that when he cruises through the heavy Mexican traffic, his bodyguards follow closely in vehicles of their own.

Although he doesn’t shy away from indulging every once in awhile, Slim also makes sure to support those in need. He has become quite the philanthropist over the years, and donated millions of dollars to several charitable causes.

In 2007 he founded the Institute of Health Carlos Slim, with the goal of developing and funding programs that will solve major health problems in Latin America. Additionally, he donated more than $100 million to help combat poverty in Mexico, and his efforts have been greatly appreciated by the community.

To top it off, he has committed to donate at least $6 billion to the Telmex foundation, with the vast majority of the funds being allocated for health care and scientific research.

Pablo Escobar Net Worth

Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria has at least 8 other names including Don Pablo and El Patron. These days he’s best known as simply Pablo Escobar. Escobar passed away in 1993, but during his life he was one of the most feared men in the world. At the height of his career as the head of the Medellin Cartel, Escobar smuggled nearly 80% of all “imported” cocaine in the United States. The life of crime paid quite well, and at the time of his death Escobar was worth upwards of $30 billion.

Like most criminals, Escobar started small. After dropping out of university, he began selling contraband cigarettes and fake lottery tickets. He was fairly successful and the money seemed to come easy. When he turned 20, he started to engage in more serious criminal activity, including smuggling and kidnapping.

By 25 he was already smuggling cocaine into the United States as part of a solo operation. He started growing his network by getting others into his group. In five years, it’s estimated that Escobar (along with his cartel) smuggled more than 70 tons of cocaine from Columbia to the US.

Over the next few years his cartel became one of the most prominent in Columbia, and Escobar was in the center of it all. The Medellin Cartel established routes all over the world, and some believe that Escobar’s cocaine was also being sold in Asia.

During the time the operation was making close to $22 billion every year – which comes out to more than $70 million per day. To put that number into perspective, Escobar had to spend close to $1000 a week on rubber bands to hold his stacks of cash. Since cartels don’t use banks for obvious reasons, the money was piling up. Apparently close to 10% had to be written off because rats would eat through some of it.

Pablo-Escobar

Unfortunately for Pablo, his life of crime eventually caught up to him and he was shot and killed by the police. Before his death, though – the 44 year old lived a life of pure luxury. At least before he had to go on the run from the police.

In 1978 he purchased and rebuilt a 7.7 square mile estate about 100 miles east of Medellin. The estate was named Hacienda Napoles, and it quickly became infamous in colombia. This property is unlike anything that you’ve ever seen before (or likely to see again).

The property somewhat resembled Jurassic Park, mainly because Escobar commissioned statues of dinosaurs and other animals to be erected all over the estate. He also built an actual zoo – complete with elephants, rhinos, hippos, giraffes, and pretty much everything else you’d expect from a zoo.

Since the estate was seized after Escobar’s death, it was turned into a theme park that attracts more than 50,000 visitors every year.

Escobar also had a thing for cars, but his collection was unlike any other. What made his collection so unique wasn’t the rarity of his cars, but their absurdity. With a net worth like his, Escobar could afford any car on the market, but he chose to collect rusty, beat up, not operational vehicles instead.

It’s hard to say why he had such a fascination with rusty cars, but he owned at least a few dozen of them. Reportedly he had a 1930’s Cadillac that he thought looked a lot like Al Capone’s. He decided to make it look more “authentic” by strafing it with gunfire for that “gangster” look.

Relaying Escobar’s lifestyle is impossible, because it’s hard for the average person to imagine what $30 billion can actually buy. Here’s an anecdote to put his wealth into perspective – In a 2009 interview, Escobar’s son recalled that at one point during their hiding, his baby sister was getting cold. Don Pablo’s response? Torching about $2 million in crisp hundred dollar bills to keep her warm.

Ciara Net Worth

Ciara Princess Wilson, known worldwide as simply Ciara, is a popular singer and songwriter. Although she’s best known for her music career, Ciara has also dabbled in other aspects of the entertainment industry. For starters, she’s had a brief acting career, produced a few records, danced, and walked the runways as an IMG model. The entertainer got her first taste of fame in 2004 with the release of her triple platinum studio album, Goodies. Since then, her career has been on a steady upward trajectory and today the 30 year old is already worth more than $20 million.

While growing up, Ciara and her family moved all over the world as her father was an active member of the military. On one hand, this was a great opportunity to travel and see the world, but on the other, Ciara was unable to form any long lasting friendships – mainly because, as soon as the family would settle down they would have to pack up and move once again.

They finally settled down for good in Atlanta, Georgia when Ciara was still in her early teens. In Atlanta, she quickly made some new friends and eventually formed an all-girl group (Hearsay) with two of them. The group recorded a few demos, but eventually split up due to difference in opinion (bet those girls are really regretting that decision right about now).

Despite the setback, Ciara managed to come out on top. She was more motivated than ever to reach her ultimate goal of becoming a published musician, and in 2002 her dream finally became a reality. She was offered her first record deal, and the rest is history. Since then, the grammy winning musician released 6 studio albums, and starred in 3 movies.

As you can tell, she’s still quite young and the peak of her career is (hopefully) well ahead of her. In the meantime, she’s living the high life with her new husband Russell Wilson – the Seattle Seahawks quarterback. Needless to say, Wilson is also incredibly well off, considering that he is currently the second highest paid player in the NFL. In 2015 he signed a four year contract, which will net him nearly $90 million.

Ciara

Recently, the couple dropped close to $7 million on a lakefront mansion in Washington, DC. The 7-bedroom, 7-bathroom house spans over 10,750 square feet and includes pretty much everything that any other “stupid rich” mansion would. Think spiralling staircases, chandeliers, thousand bottle wine cellars, movie theaters, etc.

The property also houses a dock, just in case the lovebirds decide to purchase a yacht in the future. Best of all, virtually all rooms in the house allow for a panoramic view of the Ocean. Oh, and Bill Gates lives just a few houses down.
