When it comes to Hollywood, Jennifer Aniston is as “a-list” as it gets. After getting her start as a key character on the popular sitcom Friends, Aniston has become an international icon. Despite it being her very first major gig, Aniston received praise for her performance and her character was recognized as one of the greatest on US television. Since then, she went on to star in some of Hollywood’s greatest hits and reaped piles of success, awards, and – of course – money. Today, the actress has an estimated net worth of approximately $150 million.
Aniston was born in Sherman Oaks, California to a family of actors. Her father is best known for his role on NBC’s Days of Our Lives. Despite his television career, Jennifer was oddly discouraged from watching TV as a kid. This is quite funny considering she would go on to star in one of the most popular television series to date.
Her career didn’t start in television, though. As a teen, Aniston starred in a number of Off-Broadway productions, while at the same time working a few side jobs to earn a living wage.
When she was about 20, she moved to Los Angeles – where she began to seek out acting opportunities. She got her first break in 1990 after being cast as a regular on Molloy. Young Aniston went on to star in three more failed television shows, and at this point, she was starting to question her acting career. She was thinking about quitting, and shared her uncertainties with Warren Littlefield – an NBC executive that she worked with on some of the unsuccessful shows.
Littlefield encouraged her to keep her head up and insisted that she continue acting. In 1994 he helped her cast for the role of Rachel on Friends, and the rest is history. The show obviously took off, and Aniston’s career was on an upward trajectory. Since then, she left television and now frequents the big screen.
Her hard work clearly ended up paying off, considering that the actress is now worth a cool $150 million.
Aniston owns at least three real estate properties, but her primary residence is a mansion in Bel Air. The 8,500 square foot gem sits in the middle of 3.5 acres of well-maintained greenery and features 4 rooms and 6 bathrooms. The property also houses a vineyard, a wine cellar, a swimming pool, a rooftop patio, and more living space than you can imagine.
When she’s not in Bel Air she spends a bit of time in her stunning New York apartment. The $9 million Gramercy Park abode stretches over nearly 3,000 square feet and three spacious bedrooms. The master suite shows off a beautiful view of Gramercy Park through the large floor to ceiling windows.
When it comes to cars, Jennifer is a simple woman. Although she can afford to drive any car on the market, the actress chooses to cruise around in either a Range Rover or a Toyota Prius.
As you can tell, Aniston isn’t much for showing off. She doesn’t really make extravagant purchases and instead puts a fair bit of her income towards charitable causes. She supports nearly two dozen charities, including Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Lupus LA, and others.
The actress is incredibly generous, and in 2010 she donated $500,000 towards Haiti relief and later helped “Hope for Haiti Now” raise over $58 million. Additionally, Aniston helped numerous other nonprofits raise awareness through various advertising campaigns. If you recall, she used to be the face of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital back in 2008, an organization that she continues to support.
